Bows and Exits Stage Left

Am I a food critic? No.
Am I a foodie? Yes!

I attended Augustine's Restaurant's final service at The Clarion Hotel Cork last night.
Brendan Cashman head chef and owner promised it would delight us foodies with his final menu degustation. We were not disappointed.

Espresso of Mushroom & Truffle
Carpaccio of Monkfish with Fennel & Blood Red Orange
Risotto with Petit Pois and Parsley Oil
Chicken Conommé with Buerre Blanc

Scallop with Ham Hock Terrine
Lemon & Lime Shot

Pigeon Wellington

Blue Cheese

Chocolate Ganache and Raspberry Sorbet

I won't even attempt to describe each of the dishes as I would not be able to do them justice with my limited foodie vocabulary and as for the wine which accompanied each course.... that's a whole other blog post.

Am I Wine Connoisseur? No.
Am I a Winebibber? Hell Yeah!

Come dine with me comes to Cork Bi!

Come dine with me comes to Cork.

Please ignore me if I sound a bit bitter. I am. Or a bit Jealous. I am. I wanted it. Reeaaally wanted it. Best thing someone said to me was "Sue you are way too normal to be on that show". Didn't comfort me. I retorted with If that is so then next year I am applying and pretending I have tourettes or a Johnny Logan fetish or something.

Italians, Stallions & Great Danes- Where exactly are the Corkonians....The Dutch Gold and the Looney's mushy pea fritters with a side of Drisheen from the English market...

I enjoyed the first episode but then it went downhill...I really felt the Cork show needed someone with a good sense of humour (Enter Sue stage left with jazz hands showing)... The only thing that made it watchable was the young married (poor fucker) contestant Louisa who claimed to be Italian. Or Luigi as the Twitterverse had aptly named her. She was so mean and horrible I suggested  that maybe, just maybe, "Italian" was slang in parts of Cork for pig. (Had to hide behind the lap top from the tirades of foreign Tweeters and Facebookers that didn't take to kindly to it-who knew she had friends). I felt so bold slagging her off and trying to get "ShrekInADress" trending... But she did go on the show to be the "Nasty Nick" of CDWM...and I can't take anyone seriously who says that it was all the editing that made her look bad... You can't edit someone saying "I might slash her tyres"...

So anyway I have decided that I do not want to be a contestant in the next series. I want Dave Lambe's Job... My ego, from all the people telling  me how great I would have been on the show would not allow me to be satisfied with being a mere contestant...If it doesn't happen I am going to set up a spin off show called "Come Wine with Me"... who's in.......

Go Bwaaah- The true story

That's what God does to me for laughing at that poor little girl in the Go Bwaaah Video on You Tube below. Its true. What goes around comes around.
I was out our back garden feeding the three bow wows and giving them a little run around the garden before they went into their kennels for the night. One of the little monsters Zeus has to be kept on a lead at all times in case he spots a dog out the gate and takes off after it. What did he do- spot my husband driving in the gate- took after the jeep with little ol me attached... Sniff Sniff- I can't believe that in the previous five days I had completed three personal training sessions, one spin class and 2 half hour swimming sessions and it takes a dog to throw my back out.
Zeus
Yes I know I am not teeny tiny like the little girl in the video but my dog ain't teeny tiny like her dog either- so I guess the impact would have been around the same for both of us. Although I reckon she fell a lot more dainty than I did.....

The School Yard

"It does not matter what other people say or do. What matters is how I choose to react and what I choose to believe about myself. I cannot change another person. I let others be who they are, and I simply love who I am."- Louise Hay

I wrote this quote on my facebook page last week or so and I was amazed by the positive reaction of some of my FB girlies. I believe and practice this.

A similar quote from Wayne Dyer:

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.”

Gone are the days when I get upset from what people think of me or people getting agitated when I don't do exactly what they want you to do. "Oh your after doing something I'm not gonna tell you what it was here is your penny back you are out of the gang." "If he doesn't ring me two days after our first  date then I'm not having anything to do with him"... Oh give me a break.. Give people a break! Don't set up obstacle courses for people to complete with  consequences when they don't even if they do not even know you are playing games with them.  Whatever happened to people talking things out  or have an argument and get over it. Like Adults.  But schoolyard antics I can't be dealing with.  I have no time to be going over and over and bitching and gossiping about what he or she said or thinks about me. I simply leave them be.  Carry on with my own life. This method had given me a lot of peace through what potentially could have been a terrible trying times with family and friends.

You can't change other peoples attitude but you can change how you react to it. This can be hard I know. But try it you will be amazed at the results. Don't waste your time being resentful and giving these problems and people your time or piece of mind. I believe in being positive and trying your hardest to never hurt anyone intentionally. I find then in turn positive things will start happening to you.

I love browsing though motivational quotes. Its good for the soul. Give it a try ;-)

Favourite ad at the moment

I think the people who do these ads are so wackey and talented. When I finally get the balls to leave my job of 11 years Im going into this line of work.

The best bit is when Krave is hiding behind the cardboard cutout of chocolate grinding his hips... Class stuff.

Who ate all the pies...

I did.

And I will be.
Flying to the States on Saturday for two weeks and I can almost hear my fat pants getting excited. If you have been you will relate. Have you ever eaten such fatty, processed & sugary food ever! I am going to be a heffalump. Bring it on!

I can almost see my husband throw his eyes up to heaven when he reads this. He doesn't get it. Men don't. Womens obssession with weight.
I would think of myself as bigish girl-I have never been skinny (and it doesnt help that my sister is a svelte size six) and  I know I am not anyway obese... I am a  size 14.. not one of these "im a size 14 in jeans" and there are 3 bellys hanging out over the band- Girl just buy the size 16 willa!

I have discovered the gym in the last 6 months so the clothes are getting a little looser (Don't you just love that)  but the scales havent changed a bit though! Another thing men can't understand- "Honey why are you getting obssessed with the scales when you can SEE the difference in your shape and in your clothes" but I just pout like a five year old and say I want to SEE the change in the damn scales...

I am embarking on a 12 week Fat loss and toning probgramme with a low carb- not no carb, low carb diet- before all you anti Atkins who think they know it all but have information dating back ten years, start trying to ram your opinions down my trapwith Planet Health Club Blackpool so here it is for those of you interested in the journey  http://gymwillfixit.blogspot.com/

Bring it on! After the eating all the pies in Florida of course...

Ann...and...Barry...Went...to...the...Shop...

That sentence right there gives me a tug in my heart.
This is Ann.
This is Barry.
Ann has a car.
Barry has a lorry.
Sigh.. Those were the first sentences I ever read.
